By the desk lamp chiming with bright ideas,
In a night crawling with innuendo,
Boiling the alphabet soup of the brain on the amphetamine burner.
Seeking the word to telescope attention and untie my tongue,
Blowing off steam in the thermo dynamics of the adjective,
Writing mad cashable checks to post bail for the psychic prisoners
In the invisible penitentiary of language,
Cauterizing, disinfecting the wounds
Left by the electric meat hooks of advertising,
Threading my counterpoint into the dialectical music
of materialism and history,
Peering from the window of the speeding train
of the Industrial Revolution,
Catching the arrows of conscience between my teeth,
Watching the human parade
For eyes dilating upon a wider vision.
